Privacy Policy

At Brand Treasure Map (https://brandtreasuremap.com.au), protecting your privacy is one of our top priorities. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights under Australian law.

1. Information we collect

We may collect personal information when you:

  • Leave comments or fill in forms on our website

  • Upload media or files

  • Subscribe to updates or contact us directly

  • Use our services as a client

Data collected can include: name, email, business details, IP address, browser type, time/date stamps, referring pages, and other technical information.

2. Comments

When visitors leave comments, we collect the data shown in the form, along with the visitor’s IP and browser information to help spam detection. An anonymised string (hash) of your email may be provided to Gravatar. Their policy is here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. Approved comments may show your profile image publicly.

3. Media uploads

If you upload images, please avoid including embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors may download and extract such information from images.

4. Cookies and web beacons

We use cookies to improve user experience, save preferences, and analyse trends. For example:

  • Saving login/session preferences

  • Recognising repeat visitors

  • Tracking site analytics
Third-party advertisers or analytics tools may also use cookies, JavaScript, or web beacons. We have no control over these third-party cookies.

You can disable cookies through your browser. More information: What Are Cookies.

5. Log files

Like most hosting providers, we collect log files containing IP addresses, browser type, ISP, referring/exit pages, clicks, and timestamps. These are not linked to personal identifiers and are used for site administration and analytics.

6. Embedded content

Articles may include embedded content (e.g., videos, images). Embedded content behaves as if you visited the external site directly. Those sites may collect data, use cookies, and track your interaction.

7. Analytics

We may use analytics tools to help improve our website and services. These tools may collect anonymised data on user behaviour.

8. Third-party services

Our website may contain links to other sites. We are not responsible for their privacy practices. Please consult their policies directly.

9. Children’s privacy

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe your child has provided such information, contact us immediately so we can remove it.

10. Data retention

  • Comments and metadata are retained indefinitely to recognise follow-ups automatically.

  • Registered users (if applicable) can see, edit, or delete their personal data at any time (except username).

  • Administrators can also see and edit this information.

11. Your rights

You can request:

  • A copy of your personal data we hold

We take reasonable steps to secure your personal information against misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, or disclosure. If a data breach occurs, we will follow Australian privacy law requirements, including notification if serious harm is likely.

14. Online-only policy

This policy applies only to online data collected through our website. It does not apply to information collected offline or through other channels.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
